From AJC about convention and Sue's election;
"Also at the
convention, Sue Everhart made history when she was

4This is
no election.
It’s a
coronation.
Monday,

The
Atlanta
Journal-Constitution
Long-time
GOP activist
Sue Everhart
of Cobb
County has
picked up
yet another
endorsement
for
chairmanship
of the state
Republican
party — this
one from Jim
Beck,
president of
the Georgia
Christian
Coalition.
Beck, who
once worked
for Pierre
Howard, the
Democratic
lieutenant
governor,
wanted to be
sure no one
thought him
partisan. I
would have
considering
to an
endorsement
in the
Democratic
chair race —
but I was
not asked,”
he said late
last week.
Everhart
has already
received a
personal
endorsement
from Sadie
Fields,
chairman of
the Georgia
Christian
Alliance.
State Sen.
David Shafer
of Gwinnett
County, who
lost a GOP
chairmanship
race to
Ralph Reed
in 2001,
also
endorsed
Everhart
last week.
The only
other
announced
candidate in
the race is
Anthony-Scott
Hobbs, the
current
chairman of
the Cobb
County GOP.
The next
Georgia
chairman
will be
selected by
delegates to
the
statewide
convention
in mid-May.
The delegate
selection
process
began over
the weekend.

More and more it looks
as if Sue Everhart has
the race for Chairman of
the Georgia GOP locked
up. Recently, Governor
Perdue gave
‘quite blessing’ to
Everhart. Yesterday
according to the
Political Insider
Sadie Fields, former
State Chairman of the
Georgia Christian
Coalition and current
leader of the Georgia
Christian Alliance
climbed aboard the
Everhart bandwagon.
Fields said this in an
email to supporters:
Sue is the most
qualified candidate
in the race for
Party Chairman. She
is the current First
Vice-Chair of the
Georgia Republican
Party and a
long-time Republican
Party leader and
grassroots activist.
She has worked on
dozens of local,
state and national
campaigns and been
named Volunteer of
the Year by both the
National and Georgia
Republican Parties.
She has also served
in various other
capacities in the
party including
Sixth District
Chairman.
Sue now has people
from across the
Republican spectrum on
her side, which says
quite a bit about her
leadership capabilities.
On the other side of
the spectrum from Fields
is frequent PP commenter
and publisher of the
Political Vine Bill
Simon, who said this
about Ms. Everhart in an
email on January 30th:
I know Sue
personally and I
would not be her
supporter for this
position if she did
not possess ALL of
the characteristics
of what is needed to
be a competent
leader in charge of
the State Republican
Party.
Perhaps it’s time for
Anthony-Scott Hobbs to
consider dropping out of
the race.

So saith the
Political Insider.
While I agree we don’t
want the Party’s rules
to give a Republican
Governor the
sole authority to
appoint a Chairman,
you do want a Chairman
who can and will work
with a Republican
Governor. Sue most
certainly will work well
with Perdue, Hobbs…..not
so much.

4January

Dear Republicans of Georgia
It
has been my pleasure to support Sue
Everhart in several of her campaigns
for Republican offices -- including
her successful run for GA GOP 1st
Vice Chairman in 2005.
Please
to
view the web page which I made for
her during that campaign which
outlines many of her accomplishments
-- complete with photos. Sue was
there with us at the GOP National
Convention in NYC in 2004 where she
was the Georgia Coordinator for
that Convention and handled the
housing for Georgia delegates,
alternates and guests. This was a
tremendous responsibility which she
handled so well. Sue has always
served Republicans in Georgia
tirelessly -- especially those of us
at the grassroots level. Click
here to view a web page made
at the Convention as part of the
Daily Diary pages which I made for
the GA Delegation. Sue was a key
player in this event.

I hope you will
join me and many other Georgia
Republicans to see that she is
elected GA GOP Chairman at the State
Convention on May 19, 2007, at our
State Convention in Gwinnett County.
Please
read her Press Release below AND
FORWARD THIS TO YOUR REPUBLICAN
E-MAIL LIST.

4Competence
In New Leadership For The
State Republican Party
by Bill Simon of the Political Vine - Cobb County -
January 30, 2007
As far as I'm concerned, there is
only one person who is competent for
the 2007 State GOP Chairman's slot,
and that person is
Sue Everhart. Below is an
excerpt from her press release from
a few days ago:
Mrs. Everhart worked her way up the
Republican Party hierarchy through
the grassroots. She has worked on
dozens of local, state and national
campaigns.
She has also served in various
capacities in the Georgia Republican
Party including Sixth District
Chairman for 2 terms. She is now
Vice-Chairman of the Georgia
Republican Party. She was named the
Georgia Republican Party’s Volunteer
of the year in 2000 and received
their Pioneer Award in 2005 for her
long and continued service to the
Party. In 2006, she received an
award from the Georgia Christian
Coalition for Volunteer of the Year.
She is a tireless organizer,
believes strongly in developing and
maintaining a grassroots
organization, and has outstanding
political instincts and in-depth
knowledge of the Republican Party
organization and the candidates and
volunteers in the state.
Mrs. Everhart is the widow of Guy O.
Everhart, MD and has one son. She is
a former banker (rising to the level
of senior vice-president before she
left to have a family) and lives in
Marietta, Georgia.
She has been very active in her
community including serving as
Chairman of the Cobb County Election
Commission, Chairman of the Cobb
County Arts Board, Board Member of
the Cobb County Conventions and
Visitors Bureau, and she serves on
the Advisory Board for the Cobb
County Symphony.
I know Sue personally and I would
not be her supporter for this
position if she did not possess ALL
of the characteristics of what is
needed to be a competent leader in
charge of the State Republican
Party.
I could say a lot more, but, it's
really late now and I have to
turn-in for some sleep.
But, let me leave you this link to a
post on the Peach Pundit blog that
Jason Shepherd, Chairman of The
Georgia Young Republicans, posted
earlier yesterday.
It is on a thread in which I got
into a rather heated argument with
some clown in Savannah who blogs
under a pseudonym called "landman"...AND,
it was this argument that prompted
Jason to compose a very eloquent
answer to all of the clown's
concerns about Sue's leadership
abilities.
Peace out.
