News from Berna Spencer

If Pete's back continues to improve and they are successful in crushing his kidney stone on June 8, we will be leaving for a week or two for West Virginia.  We plan to attend my Mother's family reunion and visit with Pete's 85-year-old Mom in Richwood so I will mostly likely not be here for the June 15 luncheon.

News from Kay Fulmer

This month my daughters, their children, and I are going to Destin for some fun, sun, and relaxation.  While I am gone I am having hardwood floors installed downstairs.  This requires moving out everything including the refrigerator and stove.  When we return we will have to move back in.  I think it will be worth the trouble.

I am still having problems with a pinched nerve in my neck.  I will find out the MRI results in a few weeks.  Before I retired in my mind I was going to travel many places and do many wonderful things.  For some reason I didn't put into my plans aches, pains, metal body parts and many of the things that go along with getting old.  What a rude awakening.

My brother and his wife visited with us over the long Memorial weekend.  They were traveling in their 41 foot Tsunami RV on their way home to Titusville from seeing one of their grandsons graduate from college and going to many rallies.  It is amazing what they build into RVs now.  I can see why some people sell their home and just live in the RV.

I'm having to eat my words.  I said I would never be a substitute, but with the cost of gas, food, medicine, and what ever going sky high I am planning to apply in Gwinnett to be a sub this fall.  It is going to be hard getting up so early to be in school before 7 am for the first period high school class.

The doc is letting me go back to water aerobics.  I start this week and will be missing some of the luncheons.  I will be thinking about the fun you will be having as I jump around in the water.

News from Avonel Horne

Kay and I had lunch today with Avonel who has her daughter Lynn visiting her from South Georgia for a few days. Lynn is just back from a trip to Greece where she video taped a wedding. What an exciting job to have! Avonel is teaching four nights a week at Gwinnett Tech. During the summer months she said that she will be teaching only one night per week. Avonel hopes that we have a good turn out for the luncheon on June 15 at Journey's end. -- Bettye Chambers

Web Site Problems

We are experiencing problems when trying to publish the latest updates to our GG web site yesterday and tody -- keep getting a strange server error prompt that I have never seen before. I have contacted the tech support guys at I-Power Webs (our hosting company) and they say that everything looks fine on their end. It may be a few days before we get all of this ironed out and the new material posted. These things are great when they work properly but horrible when they do not. However, this is the first time that I have ever had any problems with this web site. Go figure. . .

This page is being displayed temporarily on another web site which I created and maintain.

RULES OF LIFE
-- from Jean Kammerer

Sometimes we need to remember WHAT the Rules of Life really are.

1.  Never give yourself a haircut after three alcoholic beverages of any kind.
2.  You need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape.  If it doesn't move and it
should, use the WD-40.  If it moves and it shouldn't, use the duct tape.
3.  The five most essential words for a healthy, vital relationship are "I
     apologize" and "You are right."
4.  Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.
5.  When you make a mistake, make amends immediately.  It's easier to eat
     crow while it's still warm.
6.  The only really good advice that your mother ever gave you was: "Go!  You
     might meet somebody!"
7.  If he/she says that you are too good for him/her - believe them.
8.  Learn to pick your battles.  Ask yourself, "Will this matter one year from
now? How about one month?  One week?  One day?"
9.  Never pass up an opportunity to pee. (My favorite)
10. If you woke up breathing, congratulations!  You have another chance!
11. Living well really is the best revenge.  Being miserable because of a bad or
former relationship just might mean that the other person was right about
     you.
12. Work is good, but it's not that important.
13. And finally; Be really nice to your friends and family. You never know when
you are going to need them to empty your bedpan.
